Lip Filler

Despite the horror stories out there, lip filler treatments aren’t that painful. The discomfort level depends on our nurse’s technique (side note: our clinic nurse Abby is fantastic) and your own pain tolerance. Abby will add a dose of the painkiller lidocaine mixed in the gel, which will further help to numb the area easing any discomfort.*

The treatment itself involves injections using very fine needles to introduce the filler into the lips, so some pin-point bleeding is to be expected. This is very minimal and stops very quickly.*

At first, there will some swelling so your lips may feel bigger than you would like. This swelling will soon go down to reveal the final result, and usually takes around 24 hours. We may advise you to apply arnica cream to reduce bruising. The cream also helps to hydrate the lips as the swelling settles.*

Occasionally, you may be able to feel the lip filler. Try giving your lips a gentle massage to settle it in. We are always here to support you after the treatment, so anything you are concerned about just give us a call and we can give you advice over the phone or you can come in for a review.

As our lip filler treatments are only carried out by our qualified and very experienced nurse Abby, your lips should be fuller and smoother without the appearance of lumps inside the lips or above the lips.*

The HA lip filler gel will last at least 4 to 6 months, but we have found that they can last much longer. However it’s important to remember the initial swelling will go down - you may mistake that for the filler not lasting. In these cases, if you prefer the fuller look, another treatment session will help to achieve that.*
