At Cardiff Beauty Clinic, we offer lip fillers to reverse signs of aging and to achieve juicy kissable lips! One of the most noticeable signs of aging is thin lips, as unfortunately they get thinner as we get older and lose their fullness and shape. Our lip fillers are used to get your pouts back, or to add volume that genetics didn’t bless you with.

The concept of filler is simple. The filler is injected just below the skin or deeper depending on which area of the face is being treated. The gel instantly fills and plumps up the skin and the results are seen immediately. We use filler made from hyaluronic acid in a gel formula, which resembles the hyaluronic acid already present in our skin. Using this type of filler hydrates the skin as it encourages water into the area. A Lip Enhancement is achieved by injecting small quantities of this filler into the border and/or the body of the lip depending on the desired effect. The filler has an additional anesthetic included in the product, which prevents discomfort during the treatment.
In the news
Celebrities have been using fillers for decades, including A-listers Jennifer Aniston and Renée Zellweger. We all remember Renée’s shocking transformation in 2016! Most recently, we’ve seen the likes of Kylie Jenner, Charlotte Crosby and Lauren Goodger amongst celebs enhancing their pouts with filler.
- Does lip filler hurt?
Despite the horror stories out there, lip filler treatments aren’t that painful. The discomfort level depends on our nurse’s technique (side note: our clinic nurse Abby is fantastic) and your own pain tolerance. Abby will add a dose of the painkiller lidocaine mixed in the gel, which will further help to numb the area easing any discomfort.*
- Will having lip fillers make my lips bleed?
The treatment itself involves injections using very fine needles to introduce the filler into the lips, so some pin-point bleeding is to be expected. This is very minimal and stops very quickly.*
- What will happen after the filler is injected?
At first, there will some swelling so your lips may feel bigger than you would like. This swelling will soon go down to reveal the final result, and usually takes around 24 hours. We may advise you to apply arnica cream to reduce bruising. The cream also helps to hydrate the lips as the swelling settles.*
- What will the filler feel like in my lips?
Occasionally, you may be able to feel the lip filler. Try giving your lips a gentle massage to settle it in. We are always here to support you after the treatment, so anything you are concerned about just give us a call and we can give you advice over the phone or you can come in for a review.
- Will my lips feel lumpy afterward?
As our lip filler treatments are only carried out by our qualified and very experienced nurse Abby, your lips should be fuller and smoother without the appearance of lumps inside the lips or above the lips.*
- How long will it last?
The HA lip filler gel will last at least 4 to 6 months, but we have found that they can last much longer. However it’s important to remember the initial swelling will go down - you may mistake that for the filler not lasting. In these cases, if you prefer the fuller look, another treatment session will help to achieve that.*
