Dermaplaning

The mother of exfoliation

There’s no getting around the fact that over time we all build up dead skin cells on our faces, resulting in clogged pores and tired, dull skin. Dermaplaning is the mother of exfoliation, a miraculous exfoliating treatment in which our clinic nurse uses a surgical scalpel to gently scrape off any dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. As a bonus, the treatment takes off your peach fuzz in the process, leaving you with a fuzz-free healthy glow. The treatment is recommended for all skin types and is great for reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and the appearance of acne scarring.

Science

The science

The science behind dermaplaning is simple. The treatment is a safe and highly effective physical exfoliation procedure. It is performed using a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently "shave" the skin's surface, removing the very top layer of dead skin along with fine, vellus hair (aka peach fuzz). For best results, the procedure is performed monthly, in less than forty minutes, with no downtime post-treatment.

In the news

Dermaplaning has been featured across magazines including Elle and Cosmopolitan. Kristen Noel Crawley from Elle told readers, ‘The treatment got rid of my gnarly sideburns with just a few passes—and best of all, it's painless. It felt quite relaxing, actually, like little baby hands running across my face.’ Whilst Cosmo’s Brooke Shunatona boasts, ‘It'll change your life as far as makeup application goes.’

FAQ

FAQs

Am I right for this treatment?

Dermaplaning is particularly effective on clients with a dry or rough skin texture as it helps to minimize acne scarring and uneven skin tone. It is also great for more mature skin, which usually has more buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age. The treatment  is safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels. We don’t recommend this treatment to those with very oily skin or active acne, as well as anyone with thick, dark facial hair.

How many treatments do I need?

The results of one treatment can last up to four weeks. Each treatment removes three weeks of dead skin cells, so your healthy glow will last the entire month. As our skin cells are constantly growing and dying, you'll need to schedule an appointment every month or so to maintain your results.

Is it safe?

Millions of dermaplaning treatments are performed each year, and it’s proven to be both safe and effective.

Won’t my hair grow back thicker and faster?

The old wives’ tale that shaving makes your hair grow back twice as fast and twice as thick doesn’t apply to the vellus hair that is as we know it, ‘peach fuzz’.*

When will I see results?

You will see your results immediately after treatment*
