Be bold for change
March 10 2017
We’re proud to be women here at Cardiff Beauty Clinic, and we definitely felt the girl power forces on Wednesday 8th March for International Women’s Day. This year, the theme for the day was #BeBoldForChange, a campaign to call on the masses to help forge a better working world – a more gender inclusive world. As a business powered by strong women from our management to our beauticians and our clients, we thought this week, we would talk about being a female in today’s world.
When we think about powerful women of today, we think Beyonce, Adele, Taylor Swift, The Kardashians, Karlie Kloss, the list goes on and on. Us females are being heard and being recognised for our achievements across the world. But that doesn’t mean that we’ve yet reached equality. In Emma Watson’s 2014 speech for HeForShe, a UN campaign for gender equality, the Harry Potter star said, ‘I am from Britain and think it is right that as a woman I am paid the same as my male counterparts. I think it is right that I should be able to make decisions about my own body. I think it is right that women be involved on my behalf in the policies and decision-making of my country. I think it is right that socially I am afforded the same respect as men. But sadly I can say that there is no one country in the world where all women can expect to receive these rights. No country in the world can yet say they have achieved gender equality.’ two and a half years on, and this statement still remains to be true.
As women, we should #BeBoldForChange. We should be paid the same as our male counterparts and not expect anything less. We should be able to make our own decisions about our own bodies and not be put down for the way we dress or the way we look. And our opinions, as women, should be given the same level of respect as men. Because we were born female does not mean that we should just expect and accept these differences that are still a plague of society today.
In the beauty industry, we come across these societal differences and the affect it has on women every single day. If you want to get a HIFU face lift to feel younger and more confident, do it! If you want to get rid of your jiggly post-baby belly because it’ll make you feel better about yourself, do it! Don’t do it because you feel you have to due to society’s expectations. It’s your body and your decision.
Hundreds of women have entered our beauty clinic insecure about certain areas of their body, this is normal! Every single one of our clients is beautiful, before and after they have our treatments. Our treatments are there to make you feel better and more confident about yourself, which definitely shines through as you see your results!
Let us know on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram what inequalities you feel as a woman, and how you feel this should change. Together we can start a conversation that changes the world. We can #BeBoldForChange.
